Diane McHutchison is an IT person by day and a stained-glass artist, weaver, watercolorist, and author by night. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, John, and two wheatens, Ciara and Aoidhghean. They first met the wheaten terrier breed through friends who were owned by Erin, a lovely wheaten with impeccable manners and a gentle spirit. When Erin’s dog sitter learned of a wheaten puppy needing a new home, the sitter spoke with Erin’s mom, who, in turn, talked to Diane. A few days later, Quincy, his comfy bed with his name embroidered on the top, and his favorite toy Kitty came to live with Diane and John. As in the story, Duffy came from a shelter, and they suspect some of his quirks came from being taken from his mom so early in life. Ciara (Kitty) was indeed a rescue and has John wrapped around her paw. After Duffy died, they made the conscious decision to get Aoidhghean from a reputable breeder, knowing that his parents would have been chosen to improve the breed’s health, temperament, and conformation.
By the way. If you're looking for custom stained glass, go to The Fool's Glass. That's my other "keep busy and stay out of trouble" venture.
Wendy Carty spent a number of years moving around the country before settling in Connecticut with her husband and their two children. As she was always doodling, her artistic talent led her to creating a Facebook cartoon chronicling the escapades of her Airedale terrier, Pixie. An Irish terrier, Tod, now provides inspiration for her drawings; and she incorporates that indomitable terrier spirit in her very popular artwork. Wendy also lends her talents to several philanthropic organizations that aid fellow terrier owners.
Chris Woolf was a broadcast journalist with the BBC World Service for 34 years. He worked in London, Afghanistan, Malawi, Mozambique, but mostly in the United States, where he became News Editor for public radio’s main international news show, “The World.” He was on-air for many years as the show’s “History Guy.”
In addition to writing, Woolf runs a professional voiceover company, The Voice Depot. In his spare time, he researches and writes history, and explores family history. His passion is seeking the truth, whether in journalism, history or genealogy.
He served in the UK’s Territorial Army as an infantry soldier during the Cold War. He now lives in the United States.
Quincy, was a perfect gentleman. Proper, Dignified, and earned his nickname "The Perfesser" early in life as he tended to sit and observe.
Duffy came from a shelter at a time where he had already experienced too many families in his young life. He and Quincy were best buddies.
Ciara came into the pack from a rescue, and quickly established herself as the diva. She has her human daddy wrapped around her paw.
And Aoidhghean. Let's just say that he has "more swagger than a ship full of pirates," and leave it at that.
Quincy's book is the first in the series. It describes his adventures through his eyes.
Duffy's book is in progress. It tells some of the same stories as Quincy's book, but from Duffy's perspective. In many cases, he looked at the world in a very different way.
Eventually, Ciara's story will get written. I am certain she will share some of the same stories - but again, as she saw things.
And someday I'll get to Aoidhghean's book. His will be fun. John calls him an Irish Holligan for very good reasons.
